CBD Oil
What is CBD oil?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of hundreds of cannabinoids found in the species Cannabis sativa. These natural compounds are unique because they interact with our bodies, and CBD is no exception
CBD’s role as a cannabinoid is diverse, but one of the main reasons CBD is so accessible is its non-psychotropic properties and excellent safety profile. Therefore, CBD oil is one of the most popular cannabidiol products.
Herdol CBD Oil is available in different ranges and strengths to meet customer needs.
How does CBD oil work?
CBD oil belongs to a class of organic compounds called phytocannabinoids (commonly referred to as cannabinoids). These compounds are unique for their ability to affect the human body by activating the following receptors:
- CB1 and CB2
- TRPV
- GPR55
CB receptors, or cannabinoid receptors, affect a regulatory system known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Its main function is to act as a homeostatic regulator, helping how the body balances different biological systems.
CBD’s impact on the ECS is exceptional as it acts as the “general manager” of the entire system rather than binding to CB receptors. This influence supports the entire ECS to help the body function in a state of balance.
By promoting the production of beneficial endocannabinoids, enzymes, and neurochemicals, CBD oil is said to affect our digestive, central, and peripheral nervous systems, among others. When our bodies are balanced, they function most efficiently and are better equipped to deal with fluctuations in our physical and mental health.
What effects can CBD oil have?
Due to the unique interaction between CBD oil and the endocannabinoid system (ECS), the compound can affect dozens of physiological processes and systems. Research is ongoing, but preclinical studies suggest the compound may have the following properties
- anti-inflammatory
- Antioxidant
- Anxiety relieving
- Antihyperalgesic
- analgesic
How long does the effect of CBD oil last?
In general, cbd oil starts to work around 40-60 minutes after consumption, whereas CBD lasts for several hours. When taken sublingually (under the tongue), on the other hand, the effects occur much faster due to the rapid absorption through the oral mucosa. However, the effects of sublingual CBD do not last as long as those of orally consumed CBD oil.
Note that factors such as metabolism, body weight, CBD oil concentration and frequency of administration can also affect the onset and duration of effects.
It is important to start with a low dose of CBD oil until you get used to the effects of this compound. For the best CBD experience, experiment with different consumption methods to find the one that best suits your lifestyle and needs.

How is CBD oil made from hemp?
To produce our high-quality CBD oil, we only use naturally grown European hemp. This not only complies with legal regulations regarding CBD oil, but also ensures a completely natural approach from seed to bottle. An important source of CBD and other influential cannabinoids, hemp is also a sustainable crop used in dozens of industries.
To ensure unparalleled purity, our CBD oil goes through several production stages, each of which is subject to strict quality controls. One of the most important steps in the production of CBD oil is the isolation of the relevant cannabinoids and terpenes using CO₂ extraction.
Why use CO₂ extraction to make CBD oil?
CO₂ extraction is a superior method for isolating cannabinoids and other compounds.
CO₂ is a natural product that surrounds us. It is easily accessible and promotes plant photosynthesis. The CO₂ extraction ensures that we have full control over the content of the final product – no toxins or harmful chemicals are present after processing the plant material.
However, CO₂ extraction is only one aspect of producing the purest CBD oil in the industry. The raw components are also decarboxylated, filtered and distilled before a final filtration cycle.
The result is a golden quality CBD oil free from THC levels, plant materials, GMOs and artificial additives.
Is CBD oil the same as hemp oil?
Although we provide CBD with a hemp oil carrier, it is not the same as the hemp oil you find on supermarket or health food store shelves. Pure hemp oil does not contain cannabinoids and therefore does not have the same effects as CBD oil.
It’s also common for consumers to confuse CBD oil with cannabis oil. The term “cannabis oil” is sometimes used to describe CBD oil; However, it is more commonly used to describe oil made from cannabis strains that contain significant amounts of THC. Although cannabis oil may contain CBD, the presence of THC makes it unsuitable for many users. Also, these products are not legal in most EU countries.
CBD is obtained from the leaves and flowers of mature hemp plants using sophisticated extraction, purification and distillation methods. So that you know what’s in and what’s not in each bottle, all of the CBD oil we make is independently tested.
All test results are available on our CBD Analysis page. You will also find a breakdown of terpene content and heavy metal analysis.
Is CBD the same as THC?
Although both CBD and THC are found in Cannabis sativa, each has a very different effect on the body. THC is a psychotropic cannabinoid that can cause unwanted side effects when consumed in high concentrations. It does this by binding to CB1 receptors in the brain.
CBD, on the other hand, does not bind to the same receptors and is completely free of mind-altering side effects. CBD, THC, and dozens of other cannabinoids all interact with the body differently, which is why each cannabinoid can have unique uses.
How do liposomes affect CBD oil?
Liposomes are tiny vesicles that protect molecules as they move through the body. Using state-of-the-art techniques, we’ve incorporated liposomes into our premium oil to provide a CBD solution that’s up to four times more potent than regular CBD oil.
Herdol offers liposomal CBD oil in concentrations of 2.5 and 4%. This specialty product uses pharmaceutical-grade liposomes to enhance both the potency and effectiveness of CBD. However, due to the alcohol content, liposomal CBD oil is not suitable for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women.
How is CBD oil taken/dosed?
You can take CBD oil on the tongue, under the tongue, or with food and drink. How you consume CBD oil depends on your personal preferences.
Shake the bottle well before use and fill the dropper to the required level. Administer the recommended dose in your mouth and hold for 60 seconds before swallowing. If you’re having trouble getting an accurate dose, try taking your CBD oil in front of a mirror.
If you are new to CBD oil, start with 2-3 drops up to three times daily. The recommended dosage for Herdol CBD oil is 3-4 drops three times a day, although this may vary depending on individual circumstances.
Why put CBD oil under your tongue?
CBD oil taken under the tongue bypasses the digestive system and enters the bloodstream through tiny capillaries under the tongue and in the cheek. The effects not only come on faster, but are also more pronounced.
Whether you put CBD oil on or under your tongue, for best results, hold the liquid in your mouth for 60 seconds before swallowing.

By tracking your CBD oil intake, you can quickly and accurately adjust the dose to suit your needs. For more information on the CBD content of our range of CBD oils, please see the information tab for each product.
Is CBD oil safe?
In a comprehensive review by the World Health Organization (WHO), CBD was found to be “well tolerated”. Their study also found that “CBD showed no effects suggestive of abuse or potential for addiction,” adding that “there was no evidence of recreational use of CBD oil.”
However, CBD oil can interfere with the breakdown of certain medications. This is the result of the cannabinoid interacting with liver enzymes. If you are currently taking or planning to take any medication, consult your doctor first before trying CBD oil.
Some preliminary studies have also reported mild side effects from high doses of cbd oil. These effects include diarrhea, tiredness, dry mouth and loss of appetite.
Does CBD oil expire?
CBD oil is a perishable product, so we recommend storing the bottle in a dry, cool, and dark place for best results. The ideal place to store CBD oil is in the fridge. Make sure the bottle is tightly closed when not in use.
Each bottle of CBD oil has an expiration date and batch number printed on the label.
Can you travel with CBD oil?
CBD oil stored in a case
Although CBD oil is considered legal in most countries, local regulations regarding its cannabinoid content can vary. The global CBD oil industry remains largely under-regulated, which can be confusing for consumers. For the majority of users, flying or traveling with CBD oil is not recommended.
If you need to travel with CBD oil, we recommend checking with local authorities to clarify CBD oil regulations with the relevant transport authority.
Is buying CBD oil legal?
CBD oil can be purchased in Europe and the United States provided it meets strict regulatory standards.
In Europe, CBD oil must be derived exclusively from hemp and contain no more than 0.2% THC (some countries allow up to 0.3% THC). All CBD oils sold by Herdol comply with European regulations. Country-specific legislation may vary, so we recommend checking locally before purchasing CBD oil.
In the United States, CBD oil must also come exclusively from hemp, but the THC limit is 0.3%. Due to the complexity of laws at the state level, we strongly recommend checking local regulations before purchasing CBD oil.
Is CBD oil detectable in a drug test?
The majority of workplace drug testing focuses on detecting high levels of THC, not CBD. Therefore, CBD oil made to the right standard should not produce a positive result. However, many consumers may not be aware of the actual cannabinoid content of their CBD oil.
At Herdol, all of our CBD oil is independently analyzed to confirm the content of our formula. When you need a CBD oil guaranteed to have THC levels well below the legal threshold, choose Herdol.
